From a purely botanical point of view, cannabis faces great difficulties growing outdoors in Norway due to the cold climate, short summers and low night temperatures.
Most varieties require a warm and stable growing period to complete their full development cycle, which is rarely found in northern regions.
However, autoflowering varieties, partly derived from Cannabis ruderalis, exhibit traits that are theoretically better adapted to northern conditions:
Short life cycle, often less than 10 weeks.
Flowering independent of day length, based on the age of the plant.
Genetic origins in colder regions, thanks to the ruderalis ancestry from Eurasia.
However, these plants remain limited by low summer temperatures, high humidity and lack of heat, which greatly impacts their botanical potential outdoors.
