Coco combines the advantages of hydroponics with the natural properties of soil. The medium is light, airy, and retains moisture excellently, leading to faster growth and healthier root development. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>What exactly is coco?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Coco is a substrate made from coconut fibers. These fibers are washed, dried, and processed into an airy medium ideal for plant roots. Unlike soil, coco itself contains no nutrients, so the grower has complete control over what the plant receives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The main properties of coco are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Excellent air circulation: the roots constantly receive oxygen, which stimulates growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Good water retention: the medium retains water well, but never becomes soggy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Neutral medium: no nutrients or microorganisms naturally present, which gives complete control over the nutrient cycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"2\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Why grow cannabis on coco?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Benefits of coco as a growing medium:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Faster growth<br>Because the roots are better aerated and absorb nutrients faster, cannabis plants generally grow faster on coco than in soil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Better control over nutrition<br>Coco doesn&#039;t contain any natural nutrients. This allows the grower to control exactly which nutrients are administered and in what quantities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lower risk of root rot<br>The airy nature of coco prevents the roots from being in wet conditions for too long, which helps prevent root rot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reusability and sustainability<br>Coco is an organic and renewable product that can be used multiple times if cleaned properly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Disadvantages:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>More attention to nutrition and pH<\/strong><br>Because coco does not contain nutrients, the grower must consistently add fertilizer and closely monitor the pH (ideally around 5.8\u20136.2).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Risk of salt accumulation<\/strong><br>Without proper drainage, nutrient salts can accumulate in the medium, hindering the absorption of new nutrients. Regular flushing is therefore essential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Depending on fertilizer<br>Although coco is natural, people often still rely on liquid nutrient solutions, which makes cultivation more intensive than pure organic soil cultivation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"3\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>How do you grow cannabis on coco?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 1 \u2013 Preparing the medium<\/strong><br>Use clean, washed coconut fiber with a balanced EC and pH. Add perlite (30%) for additional aeration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 2 \u2013 Planting the seedling or cutting<\/strong><br>Place the young plant in a pot filled with coco coir. Make sure there are sufficient drainage holes so excess water can drain away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 3 \u2013 Watering<\/strong><br>Cocoa should be kept moist, but not soggy. Typically, watering with a light nutrient solution is done daily or every other day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 4 \u2013 Nutrition and pH<\/strong><br>Use specific coco nutrients containing calcium and magnesium. Regularly check the pH of the irrigation water and drainage to prevent deficiencies or excesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 5 \u2013 Flowering and Harvest<\/strong><br>During the flowering phase, cannabis plants require more phosphorus and potassium. Nitrogen supply is then reduced.
