Both excessively high and low humidity can affect growth, lead to pests and mold, and ultimately reduce yield and bud quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Ideal humidity per growth phase<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cannabis has a different optimal relative humidity (RH) at each stage of the cycle:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Phase Ideal RV Note<br>Seedling 65\u201370% Stimulates root development and growth.<br>Vegetative stage 50\u201370% Higher humidity promotes leaf growth.<br>Flowering (beginning) 40\u201360% Reduces risk of mold.<br>Flowering (end) 40\u201350% Prevents botrytis and mold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"2\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Problems due to high humidity<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Causes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Poor ventilation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Too wet soil or overwatering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">High humidity outdoors or in greenhouses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Implications:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fungus such as botrytis (bud rot) and powdery mildew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reduced photosynthesis and slower growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Odor problems and reduced top quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Solutions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Improve ventilation and air circulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Use a dehumidifier in high RH conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Avoid overwatering the substrate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Space plants apart to promote airflow between buds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"3\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Problems due to low humidity<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Causes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dry heating or air conditioning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Low RH outside the grow room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Insufficient watering of seedlings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Implications:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leaves curl, wilt or become brittle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Slow growth of young plants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stress to the plant, which can reduce yield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Solutions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Use a humidifier or water bowls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mist water in the air around seedlings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Keep the temperature in balance with the humidity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"4\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Humidity and mold prevention<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mold is often the biggest problem when the RH is too high, especially during flowering. Preventative measures:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ensure there is sufficient distance between plants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Remove dead or withered plant material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ventilate the room regularly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Keep RV around the recommended values per phase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tip: A hygrometer in each growing zone helps to accurately monitor and adjust humidity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"5\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Combination of humidity and temperature<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Humidity works closely with temperature: warm air can hold more moisture than cold air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">High temperature + high RH = dangerous for mold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Low temperature + low RH = stress for the plant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is essential to find a balance between both factors for optimal growth.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Humidity is one of the most important environmental factors in cannabis cultivation.
