Harvesting too early can result in weak buds and low THC levels, while harvesting too late can diminish flavor and increase the risk of mold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Looking at the trichomes<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trichomes are the tiny resin glands on buds and leaves, and provide important information about ripeness:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Transparent: Plants are not ready yet, THC is not fully developed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Milky white\/opaque: maximum psychoactive effects; ideal for most growers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Amber: THC starts to break down into CBN; effect more relaxing and physical.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tip: Use a magnifying glass or microscope to examine trichomes closely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"2\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Looking at the pistils (hairs)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pistils are the hairs on the buds that are white during flowering and later change color:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">White: Buds are not yet ripe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Brown\/orange: Buds are almost ready to harvest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Usually 70\u201390% discoloured: optimal harvest time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Combining trichome and pistil color gives the most reliable indication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"3\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Age of the plant<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Indica strains: usually flower for 7\u20139 weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sativa strains: flowering takes longer, 10\u201314 weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hybrids: Depend on genetics; follow the information from the seed bank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is a rough guideline; visual inspection remains important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"4\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Other signs of ripeness<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leaves discolouring: Some leaves turning yellow at the end of flowering is normal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bud structure: Buds feel firmer and resin production is visible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aroma: Aromas become stronger and more characteristic with ripe buds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"5\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Harvesting technique<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cut away large leaves to see the buds better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cut buds carefully to avoid damaging trichomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hang the buds to dry in a cool, dark place with good ventilation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Curing: After drying, store in glass jars to optimize flavor and potency.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The right harvest time is crucial for the quality, potency, and flavor of cannabis.
